Description
The GFTS Data Management and Strategy group supports Citigroup Global Functions of Compliance, Enterprise Risk and Finance. The group provides centralized expertise in data management processes and technologies, in the areas of Data Architecture, Data Modeling, ETL Development, Business Intelligence, Data Quality, Data Acquisition, Integration and Distribution. The group is actively recruiting for a Senior Data Architect, with specialization and expertise in Sybase IQ. The position will be based in the NY Metro area, at the Warren, NJ or 111 Wall Street location.
Responsibilities: • Work closely with GFTS Delivery teams to design, develop, test, optimize, document and evolve database solutions using Sybase IQ. • Identify best practices for promoting superior query performance, and advise database developers on the optimal use of Sybase IQ features and query patterns to interact with the database. • Develop in-house competencies in the area of Data Marts.
• Work within industry standard data warehouse and data mart models such as IBM BDW • Organize project teams through recruitment of employees and right shore consultants to deliver work products on time, of high quality and within budget. • Support the design, development, testing, optimization, execution, documentation and maintenance of ETL modules (extract, transform, load) and other data movement using SQL scripts, SQL stored procedures, and/or ETL tools (Ab Initio, Informatica) for Sybase IQ. • Assist with monitoring and tuning the performance of ETL modules in the data staging, data marts and data warehouse environments.
Qualifications
Qualifications: • Master's degree in computer science, math, or engineering, or equivalent experience. • 20+ years of experience with multiple large scale implementations of RDBMS (Teradata, Oracle 9i/10g, DB2 UDB, DB2 ZoS, Sybase Adaptive Server) with mandatory hands on experience with Sybase IQ • Experience with logical and physical data modeling techniques, including the use of indexes, materialized views etc. • Experience with very large databases (100+ Gigabytes).
• Strong problem-solving ability, high attention to detail • Self-starter with good ability to work in a team environment. • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously • Excellent communication skills - ability to communicate abstract ideas to a broad audience, ranging from highly technical architects and delivery team, business clients and C-level executives • Microsoft Office skills
