Our client, is seeking to hire an Application Architect who will be responsible for the architecture, development and maintenance of the Billing application which is built upon Oracle BRM software and java services.  The architect will work with developers and act as technical lead for the BRM customizations, configurations and service calls, driving the change necessary to expand upon newly launched tools and software for consumer web commerce.  Initiatives are underway for expansions to provide more capabilities for CMG (consumer marketing group), Dow Jones’ corporate, and global NewsCorp stakeholders.  The primary components include subscription order and revenue management, auto-renewal credit card processing, tax determination, and interface to the downstream financial ledger applications.  Consumer products within the catalog will expand to include, at least, digital and print subscriptions and other product sales. Technical expertise in Oracle BRM software and strong understanding of financial transaction processing is required. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Defining and implementing application architecture models and programming standards with direction-setting support.
• Defining and building the application development and maintenance environment for scalable e-commerce and its interfaces / web service calls with other downstream applications. (billing, etc)
• Communicating system enhancement needs, leading the solutions implementation.
• Leading the analysis and evolution of the corporate application portfolio - in this case, the CMG e-commerce platform as it fits with the rest of the applications - to meet business systems processing needs.  This includes supporting the goal for replacing the legacy subscribe and account management applications in an aggressive manner as it fits with corporate and global initiatives.
• Leading production support analysis and troubleshooting efforts for ensuring effective lights on support of ATG-based applications

Qualifications 

• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in architecting solutions using Java platform
• 3+ years experience / development in Oracle BRM (formerly Portal Billing) software rquired
• Experience with customized configurations
• Experience with data migration, import, legacy conversion required
• 7+ years development software solutions to solve complex, business-critical challenges with demonstrated experience in independent technical leadership or senior architect role
• 5+ years experience in Java/J2EE, MVC, JSP, XML, SQL, HTML, JavaScript, Eclipse
• 5+ years experience in one or more major databases (Oracle, SQL Server)
• Proven ability to work in a Unix or Linux environment including scripting languages, some javascript required.
• Experience building SOA solutions using web services, SOAP, REST services
• A deep understanding of best-practice architecture disciplines, modeling, processes and concepts.
• Strong communication, organizational, and team leadership skills are required.
• Experience in producing business and technical requirements, architecture and design specifications
• Working knowledge of JBOSS Application Server, APACHE Webserver
• Experience using automated build / deployment tools such as Maven 2 and Ant. 
• Experience with CVS, SVN, or SourceSafe
• Experience generating automated unit testing using tools like JUnit and/or HttpUnit
• Experience in both traditional software development lifecycle and agile development / iterative programming
• Large distributed enterprise system design knowledge desired
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

A BS or MS degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
