WHAT ARE THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION
Managing a staff of Compliance experts responsible for day to day oversight of business unit and support function’s adherence to applicable laws, regulations and Bank policies and procedures. The initial focus will be to develop and manage a team of subject matter experts that will be imbedded in the Bank’s business units to provide guidance and ensure compliance with all applicable requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing and implementing processes to assure adherence to all aspects of the Bank’s Compliance Risk Management Program.
- Responsible for assisting business units in identifying internal control weaknesses and taking appropriate corrective action.
- Manages risk-based compliance reviews/testing.
- Assists in the development of policies and procedures.
- Ensures the change control processes within each business unit are adhered to.
- Provides subject matter expertise to business units.
- Provides day-to-day supervision and management over a team of Compliance experts.
- Assists the Director of Compliance in developing and implementing Compliance strategies that promotes the Bank’s commitment to a strong culture of compliance.
Competencies and Experience:
- Must demonstrate a clear understanding of relevant regulatory compliance requirements, particularly those laws and regulations applicable to lending and deposit operations.
- Must have 12 or more years of experience in bank compliance and be able to demonstrate successful application of knowledge.
- Candidate must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with business partners and team members.
- Have experience successfully managing a team of compliance experts.
- High degree of initiative and strong ability to meet principal accountabilities with limited direction and oversight.
- CRCM preferred
In addition, the candidate will:
- Manage tactical implementations that support the strategies and goals of the Bank and/or enterprise
- Plan, organize, coordinate, and manage work and resources within assigned area of responsibility to meet division, department, and enterprise goals
- Be responsible for salary administration, performance assessment and coaching, selection, training, and career development of reporting employees
- Manage staffing and controllable expenses to appropriate levels in correlation to the budget, business plan, and existing and anticipated business environment
- Make decisions impacting customer perceptions and retention and the financial performance of State Farm Bank and/or which have bank-wide impact
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with business partners and customers internal and external to State Farm
- Ensures compliance with departmental and company policies, procedures, and practices
ITEMS OF NOTE
- May require passing credit and criminal background checks
- May work irregular hours based on workload and job requirements
- May be required to travel via commercial air or ground transportation and/or drive motor vehicles
- Expected to maintain consistent product and procedure knowledge in assigned area and to understand practices and trends within the banking industry
