The Farmers State Bank of Hamel was founded in 1919 by the Dorweiler family. It remains independently owned and operated today, and is currently managed by the third generation.
In 1919, the bank opened for business with $12,000 in capital, two employees, and less than $1,000 in deposits. Today we have over $8,000,000 of capital, close to 5,000 individual deposit accounts with balances totaling $58,000,000, and a lending limit of one million dollars.
