Evergreen Federal Savings & Loan Association Provides the banking needs of the Rogue Valley in southern Oregon.
In early 1934, a group of Grants Pass business people came together to form a financial institution then known as First Federal Savings and Loan Association. On February 13, 1934, they incorporated and obtained their federal charter. There were 12 board members who determined the company’s lending policies, and by June, 1934, they publicly presented the company to the community as a provider of financing for home loans.
Because of branching into other communities, the Board of Directors elected to change the name of the company from First Federal Savings and Loan Association to Evergreen Federal Savings and Loan Association because there were "First Federals" in every major city and that name often caused confusion among customers who thought that they all were one big company.
